Discovery Channel :: News : NASA Eyes 3 Shuttle Flights in '06

March 1, 2006— NASA's three-year quest to return the space shuttle fleet to flight is on track for launch as early as May 10, with up to two more missions possible this year, the program manager said Tuesday.

But if any major technical issues arise, NASA has little time to resolve them and still make its May launch opportunity to the International Space Station.

The next opening to fly to the outpost under new flight rules imposed after the Columbia accident would be between July 1 and July 19.
